looking for free instructions on how to make a Knot-A-Quilt?
saw a picture of a “Knot-A-Quilt”. It is a blanket or quilt made by tying blocks of fleece together. It looks like a project my mother-in-law might enjoy. I might be able to figure it out but thought someone might already have all the specifics. It is a 36″x48″ quilt made by tying fringed squares together.
That’s pretty easy. If you are cutting out the individual Quilt Squares yourself, make a template first. Draw a 5×5 inch square on paper. Next, draw slash marks on the paper one inch in. Make sure these slashes are equally spaced on each of the four sides. I would recommend half an inch between each slash mark, and double-check to make sure all four sides are perfectly identical. They must have the same number of slash marks.
Now the template is done. Place it on top of a layer of fabric and cut out the square shape. Then cut through the slash marks. When you tie the ends together, each square will now be 4×4 inches. If you want a 2 inch tie fringe, begin with a 6×6 square and cut the slashes 2 inches in. For 3 inch fringe, a 7×7 square, and so on.
For a 36×48 inch quilt, you will need 108 individual fabric squares.
