Looking for information on Molnlycke Quilting thread?
My spool doesn’t give any info on the type of thread and whether it is suited for hand and machine quilting.
Coats n Clark bought out Molnlycke thread & then discontinued it. From what I see online, it may be silk. You can test it by scraping your thumb/fingernail over the end of the thread…does it fluff like a cotton ball? If not, it’s probably silk. You can do a burn test…cotton goes to ash, not sure what silk does.
Either is good for quilting (hand or machine).
I have used many brands and types of threads in my embroidery, Sewing and quilting projects.
I find that many brands are no better than another. I purchase 99% of my threads from Threadart.
You can find Threadart on ebay or on their website. I stick with them because they carry all kinds of thread types, and they have excellent customer care.
Their silk thread is most likely close to the Molnlycke you have. An email to them would tell you for certain.
