A precision embroidered Love, Mom piece displayed on a mantel

Turning handwritten notes into
embroidered pieces.

For the notes you could never throw away.

Order

Written in Thread begins with something you already have. A note tucked inside a drawer. A child's drawing. A signature you still recognize right away. I carefully stitch each piece onto canvas, keeping the handwriting as close to the original as possible, so you can see it in a new way.

Send me your handwriting

After ordering, send a clear image of your handwritten note, signature, child's handwriting, or simple drawing to hello@writteninthread.com.

3.

I'll confirm the details

I'll make sure the image is clear enough to stitch, and we'll confirm your thread color — Ink, Slate, or Walnut. I'll reach out if I have any questions before beginning.

4.

I'll start stitching

Your handwriting is carefully stitched onto canvas, keeping the shape and character of the original as close as embroidery allows.

5.

On its way to you

Questions

What should I send?

Less is almost always more here. A single line, a signature, a short phrase you've carried with you — these become some of the most beautiful pieces. If you have more, that's fine too, but think a few lines rather than a full page.

  • A short handwritten note
  • A signature
  • A child's drawing
  • A few words you've never been able to forget
  • An excerpt from a longer letter
  • A simple sketch

Not sure if yours will work? Send it anyway. I'd love to take a look.

How long does it take?

Turnaround varies by season and how many pieces I'm working on. I'll always confirm your expected timeline before we begin.

How do I frame it?

Your piece is designed to fit behind a standard 5"×7" mat opening. For long-lasting preservation, mount it on acid-free backing and frame it under glass. Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from excess humidity.

What thread colors are available?

Ink, Walnut, or Slate. I'll recommend the color that best complements your piece, but the choice is always yours.

What should I expect from the finished piece?

Every piece is made to order. I get as close to the original handwriting as embroidery allows. Small variations are part of the process, but the shape and character of the handwriting stay at the center. If you're ever unsure, just ask — I'm always happy to talk it through first.

What if it's not quite right when it arrives?

Because every piece is made specifically for you, sales are final once it ships. That said, I never want you to feel stuck with something that isn't right. Reach out and we'll figure out the best way forward, together.

What if I need to make changes after ordering?

Reach out anytime — I'm always happy to talk through changes before we begin stitching.
